With the aim of carrying forward Don's values and supporting the youth in the field of agriculture, the Rawhide Memorial Scholarship was started.

The Rawhide Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 by the family of Donald “Rawhide” Reece. Rawhide was a hardworking cowboy and a true legend—one of a kind. A man of deep faith, he was known for his kindness, humility, and the way he welcomed everyone as a friend. He always had a story to share and a lesson to teach. Don had a deep love for life in the saddle and found great joy in sharing the beauty of horseback riding with others. He inspired many with his passion, his character, and his dedication to the cowboy way of life.

The Rawhide Memorial Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to young individuals actively engaged in agricultural pursuits.

We invite youth between the ages of 9 and 17 who are actively involved in agriculture to apply for the Rawhide Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes individuals who demonstrate hard work, sincerity, and sportsmanship in their agricultural pursuits. We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to further their education and make a positive impact in the field of agriculture. Rawhide's spirit and legacy live on through this scholarship, acting as a reminder to embrace the core principles he possessed.

Applicants are asked to include one photo of themselves participating in an agricultural activity as part of their submission.

The scholarship winner will be announced during this year’s Rawhide Memorial Dinner and Dance on January 31st 2026. The winner does not need to be present to receive the award.

Thank you for your interest in the Rawhide Memorial Scholarship. We appreciate your commitment to agriculture and look forward to reviewing your application.

Application deadline is November 1st 2025.
